Tickets on sale NOW via the band's website, www.desertwindsfb.org The concert is being held at the spacious Palm Springs High School Auditorium, Sunday, March 21, at 2 PM. Last year's spring concert at the Annenberg Theater sold out, so order early! The Concert and Jazz Bands will delve into the music of movies and Broadway shows that were so popular, they were either taken from the Broadway stage to the big screen like "West Side Story," "Oklahoma" and "Chicago", taken from the big screen and made into musicals like, "Jekyll and Hyde," "The Lion King" and "Mary Poppins" or have gone full circle from older movies taken to Broadway and back to the screen like "Phantom of the Opera" and "Les Miserables". Joining the band for this "From Stage to Screen" tribute will be Broadway artist, Janene Lovullo. Janene has performed on Broadway and toured nationally in 3 shows: "CATS" as Grisabella and Jellylorum, Wintergarden, New York and 1st National Tour, "Les Miserables" as Fantine, Broadway Theater, New York and 2nd National Tour, and "Pirates of Penzance" as Daughter and Mabel at Minskoff Theater, New York and 1st National Tour. She has performed on NBC TV’s "Search for Tomorrow," performed in many theaters in the LA area including the Booth Theater, Shubert Theater, Ahmanson Theater, The LA Music Center, Shrine Auditorium and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Artistic Director Dean McDowell first heard Janene in the fall here in Palm Springs at a local "Les Michaels" sponsored Cabaret, and was awestruck at the power and emotional connection of her voice. He felt amazingly blessed when she agreed to sing with the band. "Janene’s incredibly powerful voice will lend an inspirational aspect to our concert that will touch your heart." |
